Day 30
Healing Process of Lip Blushing

Day 1-7
The lip may swell and scabs and crusts may start to form, which can look quite messy. *If patients with herpes simplex develop cold sores after lip blushing, please visit the clinic and take the relevant medication.
Day 7-30
The lip will become dry and the scabs start to fall off. Avoid scraping and picking off the scabs.
Day 30
Touching-up is recommended to fill the unevenness and add more pigments for a more distinct color. Even though the color may seem faint at this stage, better color formation will be achieved with the required touch-ups. During touching-up, the lip is stimulated, which helps the pigments move from the deep layer to the surface of the lip.

Q&A about microblading / lip blushing

We recommend at least one touch-up, one month after the first session. Additionally, we recommend a touch-up once every year to maintain an even and ideal color.
- People whose skin is prone to complications such as eczema, psoriasis, keratosis, dermatitis, etc., or those with chronic skin illnesses, as in these cases the skin can’t hold the pigments well.
- People who have already applied permanent makeup: in this case, we recommend laser tattoo removal prior to microblading / lip blushing.
- People with deep wrinkles: the strokes mimicking the hairs will not lay properly on skin with deep wrinkles, which can cause an uneven overall look.
- People with autoimmune disease: microblading procedures can cause compromised health issues.
Both microblading and lip blushing generally last two to three years. However, depending on an individual’s lifestyle or physical characteristics, the maintenance periods can differ. The pigment can fade faster on the skin which is oily or has wide pores. In the case of lip blushing, lip exfoliation, sun exposure, and smoking can make the pigment fade quicker.
Eyebrow microblading and tattoo are similar in that both methods insert pigment into the skin. However, there are several differences. First of all, while an eyebrow tattoo fills the eyebrow in the shape of an eyebrow, microblading draws short and long strokes, mimicking natural hair. Thus, eyebrow tattoos are less natural-looking compared to microblading. Furthermore, eyebrow tattoos are permanent, while microblading is semi-permanent. The color of an eyebrow tattoo may become bluish or greenish over time, but the color of microblading stays the same or fades away. For these reasons, these days many people prefer microblading over eyebrow tattoos.
- Please allow the scabs to fall off by themselves. Forcibly removing or rubbing scabs may cause discoloration, unevenness, and scarring.
- Do not apply any oily creams or ointments, as this will prevent the skin from holding the pigment well.
- Do not let water touch the surgical area on the day of the procedure.
- Avoid activities that cause sweating for one week (e.g. sauna, swimming)
- Do not smoke or drink alcohol for one week.
- Since the lip has a thick keratin layer, scabs and crusts will continue to appear for seven days. This will look very messy, but you must not remove or rub them, as it can cause scars or unevenness. Please leave them as they are until they naturally fall off from the lip.
- In the first seven days, those who have previously suffered from herpes simplex cold sores may have a flare-up of cold sores again. In this case, please contact your consultant to get the relevant medication.
- Your lip may start to feel chapped from the day after the procedure. Please make sure to hydrate your lip with the ointment provided or with Vaseline.
- Please do not lick your lip. This can make the lip more chapped.
- More than 70% of pigments will disappear when the scabs fall off from the lip. The color will gradually appear and change over the course of one month.
- At least one touch-up is necessary after one month.
- Depending on an individual’s physical characteristics, the amount of pigment that the lip can carry may differ. Therefore, after seeing the final result, you can have additional touch-ups if you would like to have more distinct and vivid colors.
